Vivo has launched the S2 in India, marking the first device in the company’s S-series lineup to arrive in the country in nearly seven years, reviving a product line that had gone dormant for a significant stretch. The device combines a large battery, a bright AMOLED display, and solid mid-range performance hardware, positioning it as a genuine comeback for the S-series in the Indian market.
Software and Design
The Vivo S2 is a dual-SIM smartphone running Android 16-based OriginOS 6 out of the box, keeping it current with Vivo’s latest software platform.
Display: A Bright 1.5K AMOLED Panel
The Vivo S2 features a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution (1,260 x 2,800 pixels), supporting a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel reaches up to 3,000 nits of local peak brightness, along with P3 wide color gamut support and a sharp 449ppi pixel density, figures that suggest strong visual quality for everyday use, streaming, and gaming alike.
The display also uses VM9 light-emitting material, a newer generation OLED material typically associated with improved efficiency and longevity, and includes an in-display optical fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication.

Under the hood, the Vivo S2 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7360-Turbo chipset, paired with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 onboard storage. The device also supports up to an additional 8GB of Extended RAM, a software feature that borrows unused storage space to function as supplementary memory, helping with multitasking performance.
Camera System
For photography, the Vivo S2 includes a dual rear camera setup comprising a 50-megapixel primary camera with an f/1.8 aperture, paired with a 2-megapixel secondary camera featuring an f/2.4 aperture. Up front, the device houses a 32-megapixel selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture. Both the front and rear cameras support video recording at up to 4K resolution, a notably strong video capability across both camera systems for a device in this segment.
Connectivity
On connectivity, the Vivo S2 supports dual 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 5, and Bluetooth 5.4. For navigation, it includes support for GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS, and BeiDou, offering broad global positioning compatibility. The device also includes OTG support and a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer.
Battery: A Massive 7,050mAh Cell
Battery life is arguably the standout feature of the Vivo S2. The device packs a substantial 7,050mAh battery, supporting 44W FlashCharge fast charging, a genuinely large capacity that should deliver strong all-day battery performance for most users, particularly appealing for buyers who prioritize longevity between charges.

The Vivo S2 measures 164.42 x 75.25 x 7.99mm in the Sapphire Blue and Regal Bronze color options, while the Silk White variant is slightly thicker at 8.10mm. In terms of weight, the device tips the scales at 197 grams in Sapphire Blue and Regal Bronze, and 199 grams in Silk White.
On durability, the Vivo S2 ships with a combined IP68 and IP69 rating, offering strong protection against both dust and water, including resistance to high-pressure, high-temperature water jets, a notably robust durability certification for a mid-range device.
What This Means for Vivo’s S-Series Comeback
With a large 7,050mAh battery, a bright 1.5K AMOLED display, solid camera hardware supporting 4K video across both front and rear cameras, and strong durability ratings, the Vivo S2 looks like a genuinely well-rounded return for the S-series in India after such a lengthy absence.
