The Vivo V80 Lite 5G may not be far from its official launch. Ahead of any formal confirmation from the company, this upcoming Vivo V-series smartphone has now surfaced on the Google Play Supported Devices list, revealing its model numbers and offering a strong early signal that an announcement could be approaching soon.
Model Numbers Revealed on Google Play
The Vivo V80 Lite 5G appeared on the Google Play Supported Devices list carrying three model numbers: V2576, V2643, and V2644. As is typical with these kinds of listings, no specifications were revealed beyond the model numbers and device name itself, but the appearance alone is generally considered a reliable indicator that a device is nearing its public release.
A Rebadged Vivo S2?
Interestingly, one of these model numbers, V2576, is also associated with the recently launched Vivo S2, suggesting the Vivo V80 Lite 5G could actually be a rebadged version of the S2 intended for select international markets, similar to how manufacturers often adapt the same core hardware under different branding depending on region.
If this connection holds true, it would mean the Vivo V80 Lite 5G could arrive with a 6.83-inch AMOLED display featuring 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, along with a MediaTek Dimensity 7360-Turbo chipset, both specifications matching what’s already confirmed for the Vivo S2.
About the Vivo S2’s India Launch
The Vivo S2 is set to go official in India later today, confirmed to be available in Regal Bronze, Sapphire Blue, and Silk White color options. The device features a 50-megapixel Sony IMX852 primary camera, along with a 32-megapixel front-facing camera, giving a clearer picture of what the rebadged V80 Lite 5G variant might offer if the two devices do indeed share the same core hardware.
Expected Successor to the V70 Lite 5G
The Vivo V80 Lite 5G is expected to succeed the Vivo V70 Lite 5G, which was released back in June at a price of AED 1,099, roughly Rs. 28,500, for the 8GB RAM plus 128GB storage configuration. That model was equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Turbo processor, paired with a 6.77-inch AMOLED display.
The V70 Lite 5G’s camera setup featured a dual rear camera unit, headlined by a 50-megapixel Sony primary sensor. Battery life came from a 6,500mAh cell, supporting 90W wired fast charging, a genuinely fast charging speed for a device in this segment.
What This Could Mean for the V80 Lite 5G
If the connection to the Vivo S2 proves accurate, the V80 Lite 5G would represent a fairly significant camera and display upgrade path compared to its predecessor, particularly with the confirmed Sony IMX852 sensor and the larger, sharper 1.5K AMOLED display. Given that the Vivo S2 is launching in India today, and considering how closely the model numbers overlap, an official announcement for the V80 Lite 5G in its target international markets could realistically follow within the coming weeks or months.
As with all pre-launch device sightings, these details remain unofficial until Vivo makes a formal announcement specifically for the V80 Lite 5G, though the shared model number with the already-confirmed Vivo S2 adds a meaningful degree of credibility to this particular leak.
