Redmi has launched the Note 17 5G in India, marking the first device in the Note 17 series to arrive in the country. The phone comes to India a few weeks after its original debut in China, carrying largely similar specifications and features to its Chinese counterpart, with a few region-specific adjustments.
Redmi Note 17 5G Price in India
The Redmi Note 17 5G starts at Rs. 27,999 for the base configuration, featuring 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The top-tier variant, offering 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, is priced at Rs. 30,999.
Xiaomi is also offering an instant discount of Rs. 3,000 for customers using SBI, Axis Bank, or Kotak credit cards, effectively bringing down the entry price for eligible buyers.
Availability
The Redmi Note 17 5G is set to go on sale in India starting August 12, available through both Amazon and the Xiaomi India online store. The device is offered in three color options: Arctic Blue, Dark Night, and Starlight Purple.
Software
The Redmi Note 17 5G is a dual-SIM smartphone that ships with Xiaomi’s latest HyperOS 3, built on top of Android 16. Xiaomi has committed to four years of major OS upgrades and six years of security patches for this device, a genuinely strong long-term software support commitment for a phone in this price segment.
Display: A Bright, Fast AMOLED Panel
The Redmi Note 17 5G features a 6.9-inch Full-HD+ AMOLED display, with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,396 pixels, supporting up to a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel covers 100 percent of the DCI-P3 color gamut and reaches peak brightness of up to 1,800 nits, figures that should make the display comfortably usable even in bright outdoor conditions.
Additional display features include a 240Hz touch sampling rate for responsive input, 960Hz PWM DC dimming to help reduce eye strain and flicker, and Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection for improved scratch and drop resistance. The display also includes HydroTouch 2.0, which improves touchscreen responsiveness when used with wet or damp fingers.

Performance and Storage
Powering the Redmi Note 17 5G is an octa-core Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset, built on a 4nm manufacturing process. The device includes 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM, paired with up to 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage, which can be further expanded by up to 2TB via a microSD card, giving users considerable flexibility for storing media and apps.
For thermal management, the phone includes a vapour chamber cooling solution paired with a 10,416 sq mm graphite heat dissipation area, a notably substantial cooling setup for a device in this segment. The Redmi Note 17 5G also carries an IP65 rating, offering protection against dust and light water splashes.
Camera System
On the camera front, the Redmi Note 17 5G features a dual rear camera setup, headlined by a 50-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and support for up to 2x digital zoom, paired with an LED flash. An additional secondary camera is included, though its specific resolution hasn’t been disclosed.
Up front, the device houses an 8-megapixel selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture, positioned within a hole-punch display cutout. The phone supports video recording at up to 1080p resolution at 30fps.

Battery Life: Up to 2.5 Days on a Single Charge
Battery life is arguably the standout feature of the Redmi Note 17 5G. The device is equipped with a substantial 8,000mAh battery, supporting 45W wired fast charging and 22.5W wired reverse charging. Xiaomi claims the battery can deliver approximately 2.5 days of typical use on a single charge.
The company has also shared more specific usage estimates, claiming the battery can support up to 28.29 hours of YouTube video playback, 24.14 hours of WhatsApp usage, 10.58 hours of GPS navigation via Google Maps, or 13.89 hours of BGMI gameplay, all on a single charge, figures that suggest genuinely strong all-day, and often multi-day, battery performance depending on usage patterns.
Dimensions
The Redmi Note 17 5G measures 169.7 x 79.14 x 8.4mm and weighs approximately 225 grams.
