Vivo, one of the world’s largest smartphone manufacturers, unveiled its latest book-style foldable, the Vivo X Fold 6, in China last month. While the device is expected to make its way to international markets soon, a new report suggests Indian buyers may have to wait a bit longer than usual for its arrival.
India Launch Reportedly Pushed to October
According to a post on X by tipster Sanju Choudhary, the Vivo X Fold 6 is expected to launch in India in October this year. If accurate, that would mark a noticeable delay compared to Vivo’s usual rollout pattern, since its predecessor, the Vivo X Fold 5, launched in India back in July last year. A shift to October would push the India debut a few months later than fans might have anticipated.
Alongside the delayed timeline, early estimates suggest the Vivo X Fold 6 could be priced upward of ₹1,05,000 in India, positioning it as a genuine premium flagship rather than a budget-friendly foldable.

A Crowded Foldable Market
The timing is notable, since India’s foldable smartphone segment has been expanding rapidly over the past few years, with Samsung currently holding the largest share of the category. If the Vivo X Fold 6 does land in October, it would be entering a market where Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, both launching this month, will already have had a head start of several months. That gap could work in Samsung’s favor, giving it more time to capture early foldable buyers before Vivo’s flagship becomes available.
Expected Specifications
While full India-specific specifications haven’t been confirmed, the Vivo X Fold 6 launching in the country is expected to closely mirror the version already released in China.
On the display front, the phone features an 8.02-inch inner foldable AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2,504 x 2,312 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a fast 300Hz touch sampling rate for responsive input. The outer cover display measures 6.51 inches, with a resolution of 1,120 x 2,528 pixels.
Powering the device is Vivo’s octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super chipset, one of the more capable processors currently available for flagship Android devices.
Camera System
The Vivo X Fold 6 comes equipped with a versatile triple rear camera setup, headlined by a 200-megapixel primary sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS) for sharper, steadier shots. It’s joined by a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens, giving the phone strong flexibility across wide, standard, and zoomed shooting scenarios. Both the inner and outer displays include 20-megapixel front-facing cameras for selfies and video calls, and the phone is capable of recording video at up to 8K resolution.
Battery, Build, and Other Features
The device houses a 7,000mAh battery, supporting 80W wired fast charging and 40W wireless charging, a strong combination for a foldable phone, where battery capacity is often constrained by the folding hinge mechanism and dual-screen design.
In terms of build, the Vivo X Fold 6 measures 157.16 x 145.66 x 4.40mm when unfolded, and 157.16 x 74.26 x 9.40mm when folded, weighing approximately 228 grams. Security is handled via a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and the phone includes standard sensors such as a gyroscope, e-compass, ambient light sensor, and gravity sensor.
What This Means for Buyers
For Indian consumers specifically interested in foldable phones, the reported delay means patience may be required before the Vivo X Fold 6 becomes available locally. In the meantime, Samsung’s newly launching Galaxy Z Fold 8 series is likely to dominate discussion in the premium foldable space, at least until Vivo’s flagship arrives. As with any pre-launch report, both the October timeline and the ₹1,05,000-plus pricing should be treated as expectations rather than confirmed facts until Vivo makes an official announcement for the Indian market.
