The Redmi Note 17 and Redmi Note 17 Pro recently launched in China as successors to last year’s Redmi Note 15 lineup, and reports have already suggested that Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi plans to bring both phones to India soon. Now, a fresh leak indicates that another Xiaomi sub-brand, Poco, is preparing to launch its own rebranded versions of these same devices.
According to a new tipster claim, these rebranded models, referred to as the Poco M8 Power and Poco X8, are expected to arrive in India soon, carrying specifications largely similar to their Chinese Redmi counterparts. The two phones may also be powered by distinct Snapdragon chipsets rather than sharing identical processors.
Launch Timeline: This Quarter in India
In a post on X, tipster Yogesh Brar claims that Poco will launch both the M8 Power and X8 in India within this quarter. If accurate, that would put the official debut somewhere within the next few weeks to a couple of months, rather than being a distant, undated rumor.
POCO is alive again
2 new launches this quarter in India (both rebranded Note 17 series models)
– POCO M8 Power (Redmi Note 17)
– POCO X8 (Redmi Note 17 Pro)Will drop launch dates soon.
Pricing estimates are bad for now…

Brar’s post reinforces earlier reporting suggesting these two Poco devices will essentially be rebranded versions of the Redmi Note 17 and Redmi Note 17 Pro, which already launched in China. On pricing, the tipster specifically noted that early pricing estimates look unfavorable, hinting that the Poco-branded versions could end up priced notably higher in India compared to their Redmi equivalents, despite likely sharing much of the same hardware.
Camera Details for the Poco X8’s Indian Variant
Separately, tipster Kacper Skrzypek has shared additional details specifically about the Poco X8’s Indian variant. According to this leak, the phone will include a 50-megapixel primary rear camera paired with a 2-megapixel depth sensor, a setup identical to the Chinese version of the Redmi Note 17 Pro.
POCO X8 will have 50 MP main + 2 MP depth, like China’s Redmi Note 17 Pro, while Global Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G will have 8 MP ultrawide camera. pic.twitter.com/8Xvxx4F9Ks

Interestingly, this differs from what’s expected in other global markets, where the Redmi Note 17 Pro is reportedly set to launch with an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera instead of the 2-megapixel depth sensor. This suggests India’s Poco X8 variant may closely mirror the China-specific camera configuration rather than the version being prepared for broader international markets.
Consistent With Earlier Reports
This latest leak lines up with previous reporting indicating that the Poco M8 Power will launch in India carrying the same core specifications and features as the Chinese Redmi Note 17. For context, the Redmi Note 17 launched in China on July 14 at a starting price of CNY 1,299, roughly Rs. 18,000, for the base configuration with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. That model is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset and includes a substantial 8,000mAh battery.
What This Means for Indian Buyers
If these reports hold true, Indian buyers could soon have two closely related but differently branded options to choose from, essentially the same underlying hardware sold under both the Redmi and Poco names, a strategy Xiaomi has used before across its various sub-brands. The concerning part, based on the tipster’s pricing comments, is that Poco’s versions may come at a premium over their Redmi counterparts despite the shared hardware, something budget-conscious buyers will want to watch closely once official pricing is confirmed.
As with all pre-launch leaks, these details should be treated as unofficial until Poco makes a formal announcement, though the consistency across multiple tipsters lends some added credibility to this particular rumor.
