A prominent and highly active Weibo leaker is now claiming that the rumored main camera upgrade for the iPhone 18 Pro is locked in — going as far as calling it “confirmed.”
According to this source, the main camera module will physically increase in size compared to the current generation, pushing the camera bump roughly 2mm thicker than before. This tracks with long-standing rumors that both the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will introduce a variable aperture main camera — a feature that alone could justify the extra bulk. It’s also possible the image sensor itself is getting larger, which would add even more to the camera housing’s thickness.

Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max in September, alongside the iPhone Ultra. Meanwhile, the more affordable iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e — and possibly the iPhone Air 2 — aren’t expected to arrive until next spring, based on multiple separate reports.
