Insta360 X6 Leak Reveals Smaller 360° Camera Design and Higher Pricing

Insta360 appears to be gearing up for the launch of its next flagship 360-degree action camera, a move that could add further pressure on rival GoPro, which has faced a rockier stretch in recent times. Ahead of any official announcement, marketing images of the upcoming Insta360 X6 have already begun surfacing, giving an early look at both its design and expected pricing.

A More Compact Housing Design

Based on early retailer listings, the Insta360 X6 appears to be moving toward a noticeably more compact form factor compared to its predecessors. Previous Insta360 models in this line have typically featured a somewhat elongated housing, but the new X6 looks to trim that down considerably, bringing its shape closer to the more traditional, boxier form factor associated with classic action cameras.

As with earlier models in the series, the design still includes two camera sensors positioned behind pronounced fisheye lenses on the front and back of the device, allowing it to capture a full 360-degree field of view. A display remains built into one side of the camera, though on the X6 it appears to feature differently rounded corners at each end compared to previous versions. As before, this screen is expected to primarily handle basic operational controls and let users preview footage directly on the device.

Marketing Images Point to 8K at 50fps in 360° Mode

Beyond the design details visible in the leaked marketing images, concrete specifications for the Insta360 X6 remain limited at this stage. That said, one detail stands out clearly from the images: the camera appears to offer a meaningful performance boost, with references to 8K resolution at 50 frames per second while shooting in full 360-degree mode.

It remains to be seen whether the camera will ultimately reach 60fps at 8K resolution in 360-degree mode, a figure that has circulated in earlier rumors but hasn’t yet been confirmed. Even so, 8K at 50fps would still represent a clear upgrade over the current Insta360 X5, which launched in April 2025 and tops out at 30fps when shooting 8K footage in 360-degree mode. If accurate, this would mark one of the more significant video performance jumps in the X-series lineup to date.

Pricing Details Emerge Ahead of Launch

While additional specifications are expected to surface soon, early retailer information has already given a sense of what the Insta360 X6 might cost. According to these early listings, pricing is expected to start at EUR 689 for the base camera without any bundled accessories, while a more complete “Essentials Bundle” package is expected to be priced at EUR 789.

That would position the X6 as a notably premium offering within the action camera space, reflecting both its expanded feature set and Insta360’s positioning as a leading player in the 360-degree camera segment. At this stage, Insta360 hasn’t confirmed an official release date, so it remains unclear exactly when the camera will be formally unveiled.

What This Could Mean for the Action Camera Market

If these leaked details hold up, the Insta360 X6 looks set to combine a more portable, traditional action-camera form factor with a meaningful jump in 360-degree video performance, a combination that could make it an appealing upgrade for existing Insta360 users, particularly those currently using the X5. With GoPro facing increased competitive pressure in recent years, a stronger, more refined X6 launch could further solidify Insta360’s position in the action camera space. More concrete details, including a confirmed launch date and full specifications, are expected to follow in the near future.
