Motorola Edge 70 Max Launched With Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 and 7,100mAh Battery

Motorola has officially launched the Edge 70 Max in India, positioning it as a genuine flagship contender by pairing top-tier performance hardware with an unusually large battery for the segment. The device is set to go on sale starting July 20, arriving in multiple color options for buyers to choose from.

Flagship Performance and Display

At the core of the Motorola Edge 70 Max is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, built on a 3nm process, paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of fast UFS 4.1 storage. This combination should comfortably handle demanding tasks, from heavy multitasking to graphically intensive mobile gaming.

On the front, the phone features a large 6.8-inch AMOLED display with Quad HD+ resolution and a smooth 144Hz refresh rate, ideal for both everyday scrolling and fast-paced gaming. The screen is capable of reaching a peak brightness of 7,000 nits, an unusually high figure that should make outdoor visibility excellent even in direct sunlight. The display also supports HDR10+ for improved contrast and color in supported content, and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i for added durability against scratches and drops.

A Massive 7,100mAh Battery With Fast Charging

Battery life is arguably the standout feature of this device. The Motorola Edge 70 Max houses a substantial 7,100mAh battery, giving it a clear edge in longevity over many other mainstream flagship phones currently on the market. Charging is handled through 90W wired fast charging, along with 25W magnetic wireless charging, a feature not commonly found across the flagship segment and one that adds genuine convenience for everyday use.

Camera Setup

For photography, the Edge 70 Max includes a 50-megapixel Sony LYTIA 710 primary camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), helping reduce blur in low-light or handheld shots. This is paired with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor and an additional 2-in-1 light sensor, which typically assists with more accurate color and exposure readings. Up front, a 32-megapixel selfie camera handles video calls and self-portraits with plenty of detail.

Built for Durability, With Long-Term Software Support

Motorola has also emphasized durability with this release. The Edge 70 Max carries an IP69 rating, offering protection against both dust and high-pressure water jets, a step beyond the more commonly seen IP68 rating on competing flagships. It’s also certified to MIL-STD-810H military-grade standards for drop resistance, suggesting the phone is built to handle everyday wear and accidental drops better than most.

On the software side, the device ships with Android 16 out of the box, and Motorola has committed to three major OS upgrades along with five years of security updates, a solid long-term support commitment for buyers who like to hold onto their devices for several years. Additional features include stereo speakers tuned with Dolby Atmos, Wi-Fi 7 support for faster wireless connectivity, and a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer.
