Poco is set to launch the M8x 5G in India on August 21 at 12pm IST, with the device confirmed to go on sale through Flipkart. Ahead of the official unveiling, the Xiaomi sub-brand has been steadily revealing key details, including color options, durability certifications, and confirmation that the phone will be powered by a Snapdragon 4 series chipset paired with a substantial 7,900mAh battery.
Colour Options and Design
According to the dedicated Poco M8x 5G microsite, the device will be available in India in three color options: Black, Blue, and Leather Green. The green shade stands out for featuring a “vegan leather finish,” giving it a distinct texture compared to the other two color options.
The microsite also confirms the phone will feature a flat middle frame with a metallic finish, paired with a “quad curved” panel on the rear, suggesting a design that curves along all four edges of the back panel rather than just the sides, a detail that should contribute to a more premium in-hand feel.
Software and Long-Term Support
The Poco M8x 5G is confirmed to launch in India running Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3, based on Android 16. Poco has committed to four major OS upgrades along with six years of security updates for the device, a genuinely strong long-term software support commitment for a phone in this segment.

Poco has also shared more specific usage estimates, claiming the battery can support approximately 35 hours of social media scrolling, 27 days of messaging, 13 hours of GPS-based navigation, or 64 hours of music playback, all on a single charge. The device supports 45W wired fast charging along with 22.5W reverse wired charging, allowing it to charge other compatible devices when needed.
Performance: Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 Chipset
The Poco M8x 5G is confirmed to be powered by a 4nm octa-core Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chipset from Qualcomm, which Poco claims can launch apps 43 percent faster compared to its predecessor. The company also states the device has scored more than 630,000 points on the AnTuTu benchmarking platform, a solid figure for a device in this price category.
The phone will include 6GB of LPDDR4x RAM paired with UFS 2.2 onboard storage. For thermal management, the device features a vapour chamber cooling solution, covering a substantial 12,439 sq mm graphite heat dissipation area, along with a 1,924 sq mm copper foil layer, a genuinely comprehensive cooling setup for a device in this segment.

With colors, durability ratings, battery specifications, and chipset performance already confirmed ahead of the official reveal, the August 21 launch event should primarily fill in remaining details like pricing and camera specifications.
