Apple recently filed 3C certification documents that confirm their forthcoming iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max batteries’ capacity months ahead of their respective launches. As these filings involve regulatory processes, these filings tend to provide accurate information.
According to certification listings, Apple has listed their new iPhone 18 Pro as having two battery capacities – 4056mAh for China’s version and 4288mAh for US’ – offering an increase over its predecessor which came in at 3988mAh in China and 4252mAh in US based on leaks by Digital Chat Station tipster Digital Chat Station; we had reported similar figures earlier on our standard Pro model report based on leaks; so this new filing seems to confirm these reports.
Certification tests of the iPhone 18 Pro Max have revealed a battery capacity of 5391mAh in China and 5567mAh in the US versions; that equates to an increase of approximately 500mAh compared to that of its predecessor – 4823mAh/5088mAh respectively for iPhone 17 Pro Max.
Xiaomi, Oppo and OnePlus have long offered flagship phones with batteries of over 7000mAh in China; Apple has relied more on efficiency to compete. A shift towards 5,500mAh could help close that gap further.
Apart from battery leaks, other elements of Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro series have also been scrutinized by leakers. Assumedly using Apple’s A20 Pro chip fabricated on 2nm process technology; design may remain similar to current models while Dynamic Island cutout may become smaller as some Face ID components might reside under display.
Dummy units of the Pro Max indicate it could feature variable aperture in its main lens to control how much light reaches its sensor, with three 48MP sensors and periscope telephoto lens as expected rumor to use the screen sizes remaining the same as last year at 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches for respective models.
