With Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro already generating plenty of leaks and speculation, attention is also starting to turn toward the standard base model. While official details remain months away, early rumors and leaks are beginning to paint a picture of what the base iPhone 18 could offer when it eventually launches.

Here’s a breakdown of what’s currently being predicted for the device, based on the latest leaks circulating as of this update.

Display: 6.3-Inch OLED With ProMotion

The base iPhone 18 is rumored to feature a 6.3-inch OLED display, paired with Apple’s 120Hz ProMotion technology for smoother scrolling and animations. Notably, ProMotion has historically been reserved for Apple’s Pro-tier iPhones, so if this rumor holds true, it would mark a meaningful upgrade for the standard model, bringing a smoother display experience to a wider range of buyers rather than reserving it exclusively for higher-priced Pro models.

Performance: Apple A20 Chip on a 2nm Process

Under the hood, the base iPhone 18 is expected to be powered by Apple’s next-generation A20 chip, reportedly built on a 2-nanometer manufacturing process. A smaller process node like 2nm typically translates to better power efficiency and performance gains compared to previous chip generations, which could mean improved battery life alongside faster processing speeds.

Rumors also point to 9GB of RAM, a modest increase that could help with multitasking and background app performance, along with storage options expected at 256GB and 512GB, giving buyers more flexibility than a single fixed storage tier.

Cameras: Dual 48MP Rear Setup, 24MP Selfie Camera

On the camera front, the base iPhone 18 is rumored to include a dual 48-megapixel rear camera system, which would represent a notable step up if Apple continues to differentiate the base model’s camera hardware from its Pro counterparts primarily through camera count and lens versatility rather than resolution.

Up front, a 24-megapixel selfie camera is also rumored, a solid increase over recent generations that typically featured lower-resolution front cameras, potentially improving detail and clarity for selfies and video calls alike.

Face ID, Dynamic Island, and Connectivity

The base iPhone 18 is expected to retain Face ID integrated within a Dynamic Island cutout, continuing the design language Apple has used across recent iPhone generations. On the connectivity side, rumors point to Apple’s own C2 5G modem, continuing the company’s push to reduce reliance on third-party modem suppliers and bring more core hardware components in-house.

Software: iOS 27 With Apple Intelligence and Siri AI

Software-wise, the base iPhone 18 is expected to ship with iOS 27, which is rumored to include deeper integration of Apple Intelligence features alongside an upgraded, AI-powered version of Siri. Given how much emphasis Apple has placed on AI-driven software features in recent updates, this integration is likely to be one of the more heavily marketed aspects of the phone at launch, even if the underlying hardware improvements are relatively incremental.

Expected Launch Timeline

Current predictions point to a Spring 2027 launch window for the base iPhone 18, which would represent a notable shift from Apple’s traditional September release pattern typically used for its main iPhone lineup. If accurate, this could suggest Apple is continuing to stagger releases between its Pro and standard models, similar to patterns seen with other recent product launches.

Treat These Details as Early Predictions

It’s worth stressing that all of these details remain unconfirmed and are based on early leaks rather than official Apple communication. Specifications, pricing, and even the launch timeline could shift considerably as more concrete information emerges closer to release. As always, we’ll continue tracking new leaks and update this piece as more verified details surface.
