Lenovo has introduced a new compact, budget-friendly tablet in China under its Lecoo sub-brand, called the Lecoo P900A. The device is positioned as an affordable entry-level option, combining basic tablet functionality with Lenovo’s cross-device software ecosystem.
Display and Design
The Lecoo P900A features an 8-inch IPS HD display, though the exact resolution hasn’t been specified by Lenovo. The tablet measures 200.5 x 122 x 8.45mm and weighs 324 grams, keeping it genuinely compact and portable. The rear panel features a textured finish, aimed at improving grip and reducing the likelihood of accidental slips during handheld use.
Performance and Storage
Internally, the Lecoo P900A is powered by an unspecified octa-core MediaTek processor, paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. For users needing additional space, the tablet supports microSD card expansion up to 1TB, giving considerable flexibility for storing files, photos, or media beyond the built-in storage capacity.
Battery and Cameras
Power comes from a 5,000mAh battery, a reasonable capacity for a compact tablet in this segment. For photography, the device includes a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, both aimed at covering basic needs like document scanning, casual photography, and video calls rather than more demanding photography use cases.
Connectivity: 4G LTE Support
The Lecoo P900A supports 4G LTE connectivity through a dedicated SIM card slot, including VoLTE support for voice calls. Interestingly, the tablet can accept 5G SIM cards, but connectivity itself remains limited to 4G speeds, meaning users with a 5G SIM card wouldn’t gain any additional network speed benefit on this particular device.
Software: A Cleaner Experience With Cross-Device Features
On the software side, the tablet runs Lenovo’s ZUXOS operating system. According to Lenovo, this software is designed to be streamlined and free of system-level advertisements, an appealing detail for budget-tablet buyers, since intrusive ads baked into the operating system itself are a common frustration on lower-cost devices from some manufacturers.
The tablet also includes Lenovo’s Super Interconnect 3.0 software suite, which allows the Lecoo P900A to share files, sync notifications, and cast applications with compatible Lenovo PCs and Motorola smartphones, reflecting the shared ownership between Lenovo and Motorola. The device also supports basic file transfers with iOS devices, giving at least some cross-platform functionality for users outside the Lenovo and Motorola ecosystem.
Price and Availability
The Lecoo P900A is currently available for purchase on JD.com in China, priced at 899 yuan, roughly $133. The tablet comes in a single color option: Platinum Gold.
