Huawei officially launched the Nova 16, Nova 16z, Nova 16 Pro, and Nova 16 Ultra smartphones back in June, rounding out a fairly comprehensive lineup across multiple price tiers. Now, the company appears to be preparing to expand that lineup even further with a new Huawei Nova 16 SE model. While Huawei hasn’t officially confirmed this device exists, both specifications and a leaked render have already surfaced online, giving an early look at what could be the newest addition to the series.
Specifications Leaked by Digital Chat Station
Tipster Digital Chat Station shared purported specifications for the Huawei Nova 16 SE on Weibo. According to the leak, the upcoming device is expected to feature a flat LTPS OLED display with 1.5K resolution, and could run on Huawei’s own Kirin 8020 chipset.
On the camera front, the Nova 16 SE is said to include a 50-megapixel primary rear camera equipped with Huawei’s Red Maple imaging technology, the company’s in-house computational photography system used across several recent Huawei devices. Battery life also looks strong, with the leak pointing to an 8,500mAh capacity, a substantial figure that would place it well above typical mid-range battery sizes.

Notably, the tipster claims the device’s design elements will be nearly identical to the Honor Power 2, suggesting Huawei may be drawing direct visual inspiration from a device already available in the market.
Leaked Hands-On Image Reveals Design Details
Adding further detail, a separate Weibo tipster, Lao Sun Talks Technology, posted a leaked hands-on image of the Huawei Nova 16 SE. Based on this image, the device appears to feature a glossy, dual-shade rear panel, with an overall design that echoes both the Honor Power 2 and Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro series.
The rear camera setup is shown as a horizontal camera island, housing three camera sensors alongside an LED flash. Interestingly, the main camera sensor appears noticeably larger than the other two, and all three sensors reportedly feature a metal ring finish, a design detail that’s become increasingly common across recent flagship and mid-range smartphones alike.
Expected Pricing: Around CNY 2,000
According to the tipster, the Huawei Nova 16 SE is expected to be priced at around CNY 2,000, roughly Rs. 28,000. If accurate, this pricing would place the device firmly in the mid-range segment within China, positioned below every other model currently in the Nova 16 series.
For comparison, the standard Huawei Nova 16 starts at CNY 2,999, about Rs. 42,000, while the Nova 16z starts at CNY 2,699, roughly Rs. 38,000. Moving up the lineup, the Nova 16 Pro is priced at CNY 3,899, approximately Rs. 54,000, and the range-topping Nova 16 Ultra starts at CNY 4,699, roughly Rs. 65,000.
Where the Nova 16 SE Would Fit
Based on this pricing gap, the Nova 16 SE appears designed to serve as a genuinely budget-friendly entry point into Huawei’s Nova 16 lineup, sitting nearly CNY 700 below even the base Nova 16z. This positioning makes sense as a strategy, giving Huawei a lower-cost option to compete more directly in the budget and lower-mid-range segment, an area where the existing Nova 16 series doesn’t currently have much presence.
What to Expect Next
With both detailed specifications and a hands-on leaked image now circulating, an official announcement for the Huawei Nova 16 SE may not be too far off. As with all pre-launch leaks, these details remain unconfirmed until Huawei makes a formal announcement, though the combination of specific pricing, design imagery, and hardware details from multiple sources lends a reasonable degree of credibility to this particular leak.
