Huawei has officially launched the MateBook Pro S in China, powered by the company’s own Kirin XE90 processor and running HarmonyOS 6.1 out of the box. The laptop arrives across multiple configurations, including a standard variant, a Soft Light Screen edition, a Privacy Screen edition, and a premium Collector’s Edition, giving buyers several options depending on their specific needs and budget.
Huawei MateBook Pro S Price in China
The Huawei MateBook Pro S starts at CNY 7,999, roughly Rs. 1,12,700, for the base 16GB RAM plus 512GB storage configuration. Stepping up, the 24GB plus 512GB and 24GB plus 1TB variants are priced at CNY 8,999, roughly Rs. 1,26,800, and CNY 10,499, roughly Rs. 1,47,900, respectively.
The Soft Light Screen Edition is offered in a single 24GB plus 512GB configuration, priced at CNY 9,999, roughly Rs. 1,40,800. The Privacy Screen Edition, meanwhile, is available in both 24GB plus 512GB and 24GB plus 1TB variants, priced at CNY 10,299, roughly Rs. 1,45,200, and CNY 11,799, roughly Rs. 1,66,200, respectively.
At the top of the lineup, Huawei has introduced a Collector’s Edition featuring 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, priced at CNY 14,999, roughly Rs. 2,11,200, positioning it as a genuinely premium option within the MateBook Pro S range.
Display: A 14.2-Inch Flexible OLED Panel
The Huawei MateBook Pro S features a 14.2-inch Flexible OLED touchscreen display, offering a sharp 3,120 x 2,080-pixel resolution in a 3:2 aspect ratio, a shape generally better suited to productivity work compared to widescreen alternatives. The panel supports a 120Hz refresh rate and reaches up to 1,600 nits of peak brightness, along with support for both P3 and sRGB color gamuts, catering to users who need accurate color reproduction for creative work.
The display also supports 10-point touch input and is available across standard, Soft Light Screen, and Privacy Screen variants, each offering a slightly different viewing experience depending on the buyer’s preference or use case.
Performance and Software
Under the hood, the laptop is powered by Huawei’s Kirin XE90 chipset, paired with up to 32GB of RAM and up to 1TB of onboard storage, depending on the configuration chosen. The device runs HarmonyOS 6.1 out of the box, Huawei’s own operating system that continues to expand across the company’s device ecosystem.
AI-Powered Features
Huawei has bundled a substantial set of AI-powered tools with the MateBook Pro S, including Xiaoyi Smart Notes, Xiaoyi In-Depth Research, Xiaoyi Smart Search, and a dedicated Xiaoyi Input Method. The laptop also includes AI Smart Karaoke and AI Noise Reduction Calls, both aimed at enhancing multimedia and communication use cases through AI-assisted processing.
Beyond AI-specific tools, the laptop also includes a broad range of Huawei’s cross-device software features, including Huawei Notes, Huawei Share, App Succession, SuperTerminal, Cross-Device Clipboard, Keyboard and Mouse Sharing, Tap to Share, both wireless and wired screen casting, Huawei Cloud Space, and access to the Huawei App Market, reflecting Huawei’s continued push toward a more interconnected device ecosystem.
Cameras, Audio, and Input
For video calls, the Huawei MateBook Pro S includes both a 1080p front-facing camera and a 1080p rear-facing camera, along with ambient light sensors positioned on both sides of the device. Audio is handled through a four-speaker setup paired with six microphones, a notably comprehensive audio configuration for a laptop in this category.
The laptop features a full-size backlit keyboard with 1.5mm of key travel, along with a pressure-sensitive multi-touch touchpad that also supports Huawei’s M-Pen 3 stylus for note-taking or creative work. Security is handled through a fingerprint scanner embedded directly into the power button.
Battery and Charging
Battery life is handled by a 54Wh lithium polymer battery, supporting 66W charging through the USB Type-C port. Huawei claims the device can deliver up to 18 hours of video playback on a single charge, a solid figure for a laptop featuring a high-resolution OLED display, which typically consumes more power than standard LCD panels.
Dimensions and Build
Across the lineup, the Huawei MateBook Pro S measures 310.8 x 220.8mm. The standard, Privacy Screen, and Soft Light Screen variants share an 11.9mm profile, while the Collector’s Edition is slightly thicker at 12.2mm. In terms of weight, the standard and Privacy Screen models weigh 798 grams each, while the Soft Light Screen and Collector’s Edition weigh 805 grams and 825 grams, respectively.
Connectivity
On connectivity, the Huawei MateBook Pro S includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 6.0, and two USB Type-C ports supporting USB 3.2 Gen 1 speeds. The right-side USB Type-C port also supports DisplayPort 1.2 output, capable of driving external displays at up to 4K resolution at 60Hz.
Depending on the specific model, the laptop’s dedicated side switch either toggles camera, microphone, and location permissions on or off, or activates a dedicated privacy display mode, useful for users working in public or shared spaces who want quick, hardware-level privacy control.
Colors and Availability
The standard Huawei MateBook Pro S is available in Midsummer Purple, Dawn Yellow, Smoky Grey, and Velvet White color options. The Soft Light Screen Edition comes in Midsummer Purple and Feather Black finishes, while the Privacy Screen Edition is offered in Dawn Yellow and Velvet White. The Collector’s Edition, meanwhile, is available in Smoky Grey and Feather Black finishes.
In terms of availability, the standard and Soft Light Screen variants will go on sale in China starting August 14, while the Privacy Screen Edition and Collector’s Edition will become available a bit later, starting August 28.
