ASUS has launched a new tablet in India called the ASUS Pad, headlined by a 12.2-inch 2.8K tandem OLED display, a notable inclusion that makes it one of the relatively few Android tablets currently using this advanced display technology. Tandem OLED panels use two stacked OLED layers rather than a single layer, an approach that typically helps deliver higher brightness, better power efficiency, and improved long-term panel lifespan compared to standard OLED displays.
Display: Bright, Sharp, and Fast
The ASUS Pad’s display offers a 2,800 x 1,840 resolution in a 3:2 aspect ratio, a shape better suited to productivity and reading tasks compared to the wider aspect ratios common on many Android tablets. The panel supports a 144Hz refresh rate for smooth scrolling and motion, along with a 92 percent screen-to-body ratio, indicating notably slim bezels.
On brightness, the display offers 600 nits of typical brightness, with peak brightness reaching up to 2,000 nits, figures that should make the tablet comfortably usable even in bright indoor or outdoor lighting. The panel also covers 100 percent of the DCI-P3 color gamut, and carries TÜV certification for both Low Blue Light and Low Flicker, both aimed at reducing eye strain during extended use. The tablet also supports the ASUS Pen 2.0 and newer stylus models, useful for note-taking, sketching, or general productivity work.
Performance and Storage
Under the hood, the ASUS Pad is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8300 processor, reaching clock speeds of up to 3.35GHz, paired with 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM. Storage options include either 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, and the tablet also includes a microSD card slot supporting up to 1TB of additional expandable storage, giving users considerable flexibility for storing media, documents, or apps.
Connectivity, Audio, and Cameras
On connectivity, the tablet supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, both representing current wireless standards. Audio is handled through quad speakers tuned with Dolby Atmos support, aiming for a fuller sound experience during media consumption.
For cameras, the ASUS Pad includes a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, with the front camera also supporting face unlock for quick device access. The tablet includes a USB 3.0 Type-C port supporting DisplayPort 1.4 output and Power Delivery 3.0, allowing it to connect to external displays and support fast charging through the same port. The device runs Android 16 out of the box and includes a full sensor suite, covering a gyroscope, accelerometer, hall sensor, and ambient light sensor.
Battery and Build
Battery life is handled by a substantial 9,000mAh cell, supporting 45W fast charging, which ASUS claims can charge the tablet up to 50 percent in around 30 minutes, a genuinely quick charging speed for a tablet of this battery capacity.
On the design front, the ASUS Pad features a fiberglass rear panel, measures just 6.5mm thick, and weighs approximately 523 grams, keeping it reasonably light and portable despite its large battery and premium display. The retail package also includes a protective case that supports four different viewing modes, adding practical versatility for various use cases like typing, watching media, or sketching.
