Vivo could be gearing up to launch the S2 in India in early August, according to a fresh leak that points to a specific launch date and expected sale schedule. A promotional poster has also surfaced online, further suggesting an official announcement may be close at hand. While earlier reports have already offered details on the device’s expected pricing, storage options, and core specifications, Vivo has not yet officially confirmed the smartphone or its India launch timeline.
Launch Date Reportedly Set for August 6
According to tipster Abhishek Yadav, the Vivo S2 is scheduled to launch in India on August 6, with its first sale expected to follow on August 11. The tipster also shared what’s claimed to be a promotional poster for the device, carrying the tagline “Vivo S2: Flows Into Your Hands Soon,” alongside matching launch and sale dates that align with the rest of the leak.
Based on earlier reporting, the Vivo S2 may be offered in two configurations: 8GB RAM with 128GB storage, and 8GB RAM with 256GB storage. The device is also tipped to be available in three color options: Sapphire Blue, Regal Bronze, and Silk White.
Pricing Details Remain Uncertain
Previously leaked retail listings reportedly showed Vivo S2 demo unit prices of Rs. 38,000 and Rs. 42,000, while a separate listing pointed to a possible price of Rs. 43,000 for the 8GB RAM plus 128GB storage variant. It’s worth noting that these figures were reportedly intended for internal retail systems rather than public pricing, so they may not accurately reflect the phone’s actual final retail price once officially announced.
Conflicting Reports on the Chipset
Earlier leaks suggested the Vivo S2 could feature a 6.59-inch 1.5K OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and an in-display fingerprint sensor, powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset.
However, a separate report from 91Mobiles, citing industry sources, contradicts this chipset claim, suggesting the device could instead use a MediaTek Dimensity 7360 chipset rather than the previously rumored Snapdragon processor. This kind of conflicting information isn’t unusual during the pre-launch leak cycle, and it likely won’t be clear which chipset is accurate until Vivo makes an official announcement. The same report also claims the phone could support 4K video recording using both its front and rear cameras.
Expected Battery and Charging
The Vivo S2 is also rumored to include a substantial 7,000mAh battery, supporting 80W wired fast charging, along with both wireless charging and reverse wireless charging support, a fairly comprehensive charging feature set for a device in this segment.
Expected Camera Setup
On the camera front, the Vivo S2 is rumored to include a triple rear camera system comprising a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera, and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera. Up front, the device is tipped to feature a 32-megapixel selfie camera for video calls and self-portraits.
What to Expect Next
With a specific launch date and sale timeline now circulating, along with a leaked promotional poster reinforcing those details, an official announcement from Vivo could be just around the corner. That said, given the conflicting chipset reports and unconfirmed pricing, it’s worth treating the finer technical details with some caution until Vivo provides official confirmation closer to the rumored August 6 launch date.
