Samsung To Ditch Slim-Edge Series, Replace It With Galaxy S27 Pro Variant Instead

Samsung appears to be shifting its flagship strategy once again, according to a new leak from TelecomTalk on X. Rather than continuing with a dedicated Slim-Edge series, the company is reportedly planning to replace it with a new Galaxy S27 Pro variant, folding what would have been a separate product line directly into the main Galaxy S27 lineup instead.

Four New Phones Codenamed “Next Miracle”

According to the leak, Samsung is secretly developing four new devices under the internal codename “Next Miracle,” with individual models identified as NM1, NM2, NM3, and NM4. These codenames align with earlier reporting we’ve covered, where NM1 through NM4 were similarly linked to the Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27+, Galaxy S27 Pro, and Galaxy S27 Ultra respectively, reinforcing the idea that Samsung is treating the Pro model as a genuine, distinct addition to the lineup rather than simply rebranding the Ultra or Plus variants.

A Strategic Shift Away From the Slim-Edge Concept

This move suggests Samsung has reconsidered its earlier plans for a standalone Slim-Edge series, a concept that had previously been rumored as a separate ultra-thin device positioned alongside the standard Galaxy S lineup. Instead, the company now appears to be consolidating that idea into a Pro-tier variant within the existing Galaxy S27 series itself, rather than launching it as an entirely separate product line.

This kind of lineup restructuring isn’t unprecedented for Samsung, which has adjusted its Galaxy S series structure in past generations based on both market feedback and competitive positioning against rivals like Apple’s own Pro-tier iPhone lineup.

Expected Hardware: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro and Triple Cameras

On the hardware side, the leak indicates these new devices will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset, specifically the Galaxy-optimized variant Qualcomm has customized for Samsung’s flagship lineup in previous generations as well. The devices are also expected to feature a triple-camera setup on the rear, though specific sensor details haven’t been revealed as part of this particular leak.

What This Means for the Galaxy S27 Lineup

If this restructuring proves accurate, it would mean Samsung’s Galaxy S27 series ends up with four distinct tiers: the standard S27, the S27+, a new S27 Pro, and the range-topping S27 Ultra, effectively replacing what would have been a separate Slim-Edge device with a more integrated Pro-tier option within the main lineup. This approach could simplify Samsung’s overall flagship strategy by keeping all premium variants under a single series name, rather than splitting attention and marketing between the standard Galaxy S lineup and a separate Slim-Edge product line.

As with all pre-launch leaks this far ahead of an expected release, these details remain unconfirmed until Samsung makes an official announcement. Given how early this leak is relative to the Galaxy S27’s rumored early 2027 launch window, Samsung’s exact lineup structure could still change as development progresses.
