Xiaomi Redmi 3X (2016) — A Reliable Budget Phone Built for China Unicom
The Xiaomi Redmi 3X, also known as the Hongmi 3X, debuted shortly after the Redmi 3S as a model specially prepared for China Unicom’s network, where it was offered on an exclusive basis. Announced in June 2016, it carried forward Xiaomi’s tradition of delivering solid specs at an affordable price point.
The phone features a 5.0-inch IPS LCD display with a 720 x 1280 pixel resolution, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 (MSM8937) chipset with an octa-core CPU combining four 1.4GHz and four 1.61GHz ARM Cortex-A53 cores, paired with the Adreno 505 GPU. It comes with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, giving it enough power for everyday browsing, messaging, and light multitasking.
On the camera front, the Redmi 3X sports a 13MP main camera with an f/2 aperture, capable of recording 1080p video. The device also includes a fingerprint sensor for added convenience and security — a notable feature for a budget phone of its time.
A generous 4100mAh Li-Ion battery ensured all-day endurance, while the phone shipped with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow running MIUI 7.3 on top. Connectivity options included Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, and GPS with GLONASS and BeiDou positioning support, rounding out a well-equipped package for a budget-friendly Xiaomi device.
