Xiaomi Mi 4 (2014) — The Flagship That Put Xiaomi on the Global Map

The Xiaomi Mi 4 is a smartphone developed by Xiaomi for its high-end line, officially unveiled during the Xiaomi New Product Launch Event on July 22, 2014. Built as a major revamp of its predecessor, the Mi 3, the Mi 4 introduced a fresh new design and quickly gained recognition as one of the best smartphones available at the time, thanks to its high-end hardware sold at a price far lower than its rivals.

Under the hood, the Mi 4 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset with a quad-core 2.45 GHz Krait 400 CPU and an Adreno 330 GPU, and at the time of launch, it was recognized as the fastest Android smartphone according to AnTuTu benchmark testing. The phone comes with 3GB of RAM and either 16GB or 64GB of non-expandable internal storage. of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a sharp 441 ppi pixel density. For photography, it includes a 13MP rear camera with an f/2.0 aperture, autofocus, and dual-LED flash, alongside an 8MP front camera for sharp selfies and video calls.

Rounding out the package, the Mi 4 is powered by a 3080mAh battery offering up to 280 hours of standby time, and runs on Android 4.4.3 KitKat with Xiaomi’s MIUI software on top, supporting 4G LTE, NFC, Wi-Fi, FM Radio, Bluetooth, and GPS. Notably, the phone launched alongside the original Xiaomi Mi Band, a complementary fitness tracker and sleep monitor that helped kickstart Xiaomi’s wearable ecosystem.
