Motorola has officially launched the Moto G Max in India, adding a new option to its smartphone lineup. The device combines a high-refresh-rate display, a large battery, and a Snapdragon chipset, while placing a clear emphasis on durability and everyday usability rather than chasing flagship-tier specifications.

Display: A Bright 120Hz Panel With Wet-Touch Support

The Moto G Max features a 6.72-inch FHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate, reaching up to 1,050 nits of brightness in High Brightness Mode, figures that should offer smooth everyday performance along with solid outdoor visibility.

The display also supports Water Touch 2.0, improving touch responsiveness when the screen is wet, a genuinely practical feature for reliability in rainy conditions or after handling the phone with damp hands. The panel is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic, a material known for offering improved drop resistance compared to standard glass.

Performance and Software

Under the hood, the Moto G Max runs on the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset, paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. The device also supports up to 24GB of additional virtual memory, a software feature that borrows unused storage space to function as supplementary RAM, helping with multitasking performance.

On the software side, the phone runs Motorola’s Hello UX interface layered on top of Android 16. Motorola has committed to two major OS upgrades along with three years of security updates, a reasonable software support window for a device in this segment.

Camera System

For photography, the Moto G Max includes a 50-megapixel Sony LYTIA 600 main camera paired with an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera on the rear. Up front, a 32-megapixel selfie camera handles selfies and video calls, a notably high resolution for a front-facing sensor at this price point.

Audio

The phone also features stereo speakers tuned with Dolby Atmos support for improved audio output during media playback, and notably retains a 3.5mm headphone jack, a feature that’s become increasingly rare on newer smartphones but remains appreciated by users who prefer wired audio connections.

Battery: A Large Silicon-Carbon Cell

Powering the device is a substantial 7,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, supporting 30W charging. Silicon-carbon battery chemistry generally allows for higher energy density within the same physical space compared to traditional lithium-ion batteries, potentially delivering strong real-world battery life despite the more modest 30W charging speed.

Durability

On durability, the Moto G Max carries an IP64 rating, offering protection against dust and light water splashes, along with MIL-STD-810H certification, indicating the device has been tested against military-grade standards for drops, vibration, and general wear and tear, giving it added resilience for demanding everyday use.

Moto G Max Price in India

Motorola has launched the Moto G Max in two configurations. The 6GB RAM plus 128GB storage variant is priced at Rs. 27,999, while the 8GB RAM plus 128GB storage variant is priced at Rs. 29,999.

The phone will be available through Flipkart, with sales starting on August 20. Buyers using eligible bank offers can take advantage of a discount of up to Rs. 1,000, further reducing the effective purchase price.

The Moto G Max comes in three Pantone-curated color options: Stargazer, Alaskan Blue, and Malaga.
